Bloomsburg Women's Basketball Defeated by Kutztown, 66-56

KUTZTOWN- Kelsey Gallagher (East Stroudsburg/ East Stroudsburg South) scored 19 points and grabbed ten rebounds, recording her first career double-double, but it would not be enough as the Bloomsburg University Women's Basketball team fell to Kutztown 66-56 on Saturday night.
Bloomsburg would take an early lead courtesy of a Gallagher three-pointer and a Kelly Joyce (Ashland/Cardinal Brennan) three-point play making the score 8-2 2:32 into the first half. The Huskies would expand their lead to as many as nine with nine minutes remaining when Lauren Healy (Glenmoore/Owen J. Roberts) hit back-to-back jumpers to make the score 23-14. Kutztown would close the half on a 16-5 run to take a 30-28 lead into halftime.
In the second half, Kutztown would take extend their lead to five before Bloomsburg would rally. Joyce would score five points over the next 2:09 to give the Huskies a 35-34 lead. Kutztown would respond with a 10-2 run over the next five minutes though, giving the Golden Bears a 46-37 lead with just under 10 minutes remaining.
Bloomsburg would draw back within two with 5:36 remaining, but another 10-2 run by the Golden Bears in the last five minutes sealed the win.
Healy would add thirteen points for Bloomsburg, while Joyce and Colleen Kegerreis (Schuykill Haven/ Schuykill Haven) added ten points apiece.
With the loss, Bloomsburg falls to 8-11, 0-6 in the PSAC East. Bloomsburg will be action on Wednesday night when they travel to Mansfield. That game tips off at 5:30 p.m.
